How to Send Your Legal Notice

Once you've generated and downloaded your notice, follow these steps to send it correctly and build a strong paper trail.

📮
1. Send via Speed Post (Registered AD)
Print two copies of the notice. Go to your nearest India Post branch and send via Speed Post with Acknowledgement Due (AD). This provides legal proof of delivery. Keep the postal receipt and the returned AD card safely — they are your evidence.
📧
2. Send via Email Simultaneously
Attach the PDF notice and email it to the receiver's official email address. If possible, request a read receipt. BCC yourself so you have a timestamped copy. Keep the sent email in your records.
💬
3. WhatsApp / Message (Optional)
You may also send the PDF via WhatsApp or SMS. While this isn't a primary legal channel, it creates another timestamp of the notice being served. Take a screenshot showing the message was delivered and read.
🗂️
4. Collect and Preserve Evidence
Gather all supporting documents: original invoice or purchase order, signed contract or agreement, payment receipts for partial payments, all earlier reminder messages or emails, and the Speed Post AD card once it returns.
5. Wait for the Response Period
Allow the full deadline you specified in the notice (7 or 15 days from receipt). Courts recognise that a reasonable time must be given. Do not escalate during this window.
⚖️
6. If No Response — Next Steps
If the deadline passes with no payment or credible response, consider: filing a civil suit for recovery in the appropriate District Court; approaching the Consumer Forum (for consumer disputes under ₹50 lakh); or consulting a local advocate who specialises in civil recovery matters.
